Ryu Hojung: "Leaving the Party Is Not Common Sense... I Will Persuade Party Members Until the January General Vote"
Justice Party Lawmaker, SBS Radio Interview
"In 2008, No Hee-chan and Shim Sang-jung Faced Pressure to Leave the Party"
Former lawmaker Geum Tae-seop and Justice Party lawmaker Ryu Ho-jeong, who declared the founding of 'New Choice,' said on the 13th that they do not believe "leaving the party is common sense" in response to the Justice Party Emergency Committee's demand for their resignation. They added, "Since progressive parties have repeatedly experienced meetings and partings in the past, we believe party members will calmly consider the future of our party."
On the same day, Ryu appeared on SBS Radio's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show' and said, "Since I promised not to engage in politics that mocks opponents, it is difficult to explain the internal party situation in detail," referring to the founding of the Progressive New Party in 2008.
He explained, "At the 2008 Democratic Labor Party convention, the founding of the Progressive New Party was decided, and lawmakers Roh Hoe-chan and Shim Sang-jung were confirmed as the leadership of the Progressive New Party. Although there was pressure for the two, who were proportional representation lawmakers at the time, to leave the party, they moved in early March and resigned."
He continued, "NL faction party members cursed and caused chaos, asking why the two did not leave, but the NL faction leadership calmly prepared for the parting and separation without making a fuss. Since progressive parties have come through repeated meetings and partings, I believe party members are calmly considering how our party should proceed in the future," he asserted.

He added, "Our activities are more about collective choices than individual political activities. We conducted a party member perception survey on the third political zone, including the Progressive Party, Labor Party, Green Party, and the third choice. About one-quarter of the party members responded that solidarity with the third zone is necessary."
