Discussion on Voluntary Regulation of Online Platforms at the Distribution Service Industry Committee of the Korea Federation of SMEs
2023 2nd Distribution Service Industry Committee Meeting Held
The Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business (Chairman Kim Ki-moon) announced on the 13th that it held the 2023 '2nd Distribution Service Industry Committee' at the Federation's headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul. The Distribution Service Industry Committee was launched in June with the aim of enhancing the competitiveness of the small and medium distribution service sector by identifying on-site difficulties related to the distribution service industry. Kim Jae-myeon, Chairman of the Korea Super Chain Distribution Business Cooperative, serves as the committee chairman.
At this committee meeting, they shared the current status of the voluntary regulation of online platforms and discussed industry response measures regarding issues such as online platform monopolies and alleviating cost burdens on tenant companies.
The attending committee members stated that although the online platform market is continuously expanding, tenant companies are facing difficulties due to unfair trade, excessive fees, and advertising costs, emphasizing the need for practical implementation checks on voluntary regulation and win-win measures.
