Netanyahu: "Hamas Terrorists' Surrender Is the Beginning of the End"... US: "Hamas Remains Strong, No Ceasefire"
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently stated on the 10th (local time) that the end of the war is beginning to be seen as Palestinian militant group Hamas fighters surrender.
On the 65th day of the war with Hamas, Prime Minister Netanyahu said in a video, "In the past few days, dozens of Hamas terrorists have surrendered to our troops. They laid down their weapons before our brave warriors."
He added, "More time is still needed, and we are fighting with all our might," but "this is the beginning of the end for Hamas."
Netanyahu urged Hamas fighters still resisting the Israeli military, saying, "It is over now," and advised, "Do not risk your lives for Sinwar (Hamas's Gaza leader), surrender now."
Recently, videos have been posted on social media showing Palestinian men kneeling before Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers in their underwear.
Earlier, IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi also said on the 9th, "More and more terrorists are surrendering recently," adding, "This signals that their system is collapsing, and we need to push harder."
The U.S. government also reaffirmed its support for Israel and opposition to a ceasefire, stating that the war will end if Hamas surrenders.
On the 10th, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in interviews with CNN, ABC, and others, "If Hamas, which hides behind civilians, comes out tomorrow, lays down its weapons, and surrenders, this will be the end," but added, "As long as Hamas remains intact and shows intent to repeat attacks like those on October 7, a ceasefire would perpetuate the problem."
Regarding the timing of the war's end, he said, "Everyone hopes this war ends as soon as possible, but that is a decision for Israel." He continued, "Israel suffered terrorist attacks in the most horrific way," and "any country facing such terrorist organizations must be assured that such events will not happen again."
