Ryan O'Neal, the lead actor of the Hollywood romance film 'Love Story,' has passed away at the age of 82.
His son, Patrick O'Neal, posted on his Instagram account on the 8th (local time), saying, "My father peacefully passed away today surrounded by his loving family." He also paid tribute, saying, "My father Ryan O'Neal was always my hero" and "a legend of Hollywood."
The cause of O'Neal's death has not been disclosed. Foreign media previously reported that O'Neal had battled chronic leukemia. In 2012, he was also diagnosed with prostate cancer.
He began his acting career in 1964 by appearing in the TV series 'Peyton Place.' He gained worldwide fame playing the male lead 'Oliver' in the 1970 film Love Story. He enjoyed his heyday in the 1970s, including being nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor for this film.
