Son of Israeli War Cabinet Minister Killed in Gaza Battle
The son of a minister in the Israeli war cabinet, which is currently at war with the Palestinian militant group Hamas, was killed on the battlefield in the Gaza Strip on the 7th (local time).
According to reports from The New York Times, BBC, and others, the Israeli military confirmed that Meir Eisenkot, a reserve lieutenant colonel and son of retired Lieutenant General Gadi Eisenkot, died in Jabalia in northern Gaza. Reserve commando Eisenkot was seriously injured in an explosion in a vertical tunnel shaft and was transported to a hospital, but local media reported that he succumbed to his injuries.

His father, retired Lieutenant General Eisenkot, served as the Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces from 2015 to 2019, with a military career spanning about 40 years. He was visiting the southern Israel situation room (war room) when he received the news of his son's severe injury.
