The ceremony was organized as a gathering for volunteers who have become a strong support in the community with their exceptional affection and spirit of practice, providing an opportunity to comfort and encourage each other regarding their activities so far.
The ceremony was divided into two parts and proceeded in the order of a pre-ceremony congratulatory performance by Jungnang-gu’s directly managed volunteer group ‘YeoJeong (情)’, viewing of volunteer activity videos, volunteer story presentations, and awarding of certificates and medals to outstanding volunteers.
Certificates and medals were awarded based on volunteer hours. Certificates were given to the ▲Volunteer King with 10,000 hours of service, ▲5,000-hour Volunteer King, and ▲1,000-hour Volunteer King, while medals were awarded to those with 500 to 300 hours of service: ▲Gold, ▲Silver, and ▲Bronze medals respectively.
This year, among a total of 390 awardees, certificates were presented to 1 Volunteer King, 25 5,000-hour Volunteer Kings, and 16 1,000-hour Volunteer Kings, while medals were awarded to 28 Gold, 43 Silver, and 63 Bronze recipients.
In particular, this year, to boost volunteer morale and improve the standards of recognition, the enforcement regulations of the Jungnang-gu Volunteer Activity Support Ordinance were revised. Following the ordinance revision, the 5,000-hour Volunteer King category was added, and the title of the 10,000-hour Volunteer King was changed to 'Volunteer Grand King.'
