Namhae-gun Achieves Excellent Results Participating in Gyeongsangnam-do Volunteer Conference
Five Individuals and Three Organizations Awarded Meritorious Service Commendations
Namhae-gun, Gyeongnam Province achieved excellent results by winning multiple awards at the ‘2023 Gyeongsangnam-do Volunteer Conference’ held at the Gyeongnam Provincial Government Auditorium.
The event held on the 6th was attended by about 700 volunteers, including Governor Park Wan-su, Chairman Kim Jin-bu of the Provincial Council, and Lee Seong-woo, Chairman of the Gyeongsangnam-do Volunteer Council.
Song In-pil, Secretary General of the Namhae-gun Volunteer Center, was recognized for his contributions to the promotion of volunteer activities and the construction of a happy community, receiving the Gyeongsangnam-do Volunteer Award (Volunteer Manager category), the most prestigious award in the volunteer sector within the province.
Additionally, Park Kyung-sim, Vice President of the Namhae Geumsan Volunteer Society of the Namhae-gun Red Cross, Park Chun-hee, a member, and Kim Mi-kyung, Chairperson of the Seolcheon-myeon Community Security Council in Namhae-gun, received the Governor’s Commendation for individual volunteers.
Furthermore, the Wellness Volunteer Group of Gyeongnam Provincial Namhae College, which has been consistently engaged in environmental cleanup volunteer work and donation of goods, received the Governor’s Commendation in the volunteer group category.
Also, the Namhae Rotary Club, which actively volunteers in various fields including residential environment improvement within the district, received the Chairman’s Commendation from the Gyeongsangnam-do Volunteer Center, and the Sae Namhae Rotary Club received the Chairman’s Commendation from the Gyeongsangnam-do Volunteer Council.
Notably, children from the Namhae Lotus Kindergarten were directly invited to the event and performed a puzzle activity spelling out ‘Volunteers Connecting the World’ together with the guests.
Through a video of the toddler volunteer group’s activities, the children shared how they practice volunteering in their daily lives, providing a meaningful opportunity to reinforce the perception that ‘volunteering is something anyone can do, regardless of age or gender.’
On the day, Secretary General Song of the Namhae-gun Volunteer Center said, “We want to continue developing sustainable and diverse volunteer activity programs, connect volunteers to actively participate in volunteer work, and strive to revitalize volunteering in Namhae-gun.”

Meanwhile, Gyeongsangnam-do holds the Gyeongsangnam-do Volunteer Conference annually to commemorate Volunteer Day on December 5th, aiming to boost volunteer morale and foster a culture of volunteer participation among residents.
