Drainage Facility and Road Sign Maintenance, Maximizing Road Efficiency
Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Hee-su) announced on the 5th that it was selected as the best institution in the 2023 Comprehensive Road Maintenance Evaluation conducted by Jeollanam-do.
This award is evaluated as recognition of Jindo-gun's various efforts to provide road users with a pleasant and safe road environment, including △road pavement and structure management △management of road signs and safety facilities △winter snow removal preparedness and winter countermeasures.
In particular, for efficient management of local roads and rapid snow removal work in winter, Jindo-gun purchased and operated seven small calcium chloride spreaders for snow removal on side roads, and installed automatic brine spraying devices at two habitual freezing sections, including Sol Beach Jindo, which were highly evaluated.
Additionally, as part of the "Making Jindo Bloom 365" project, flowers and trees were planted in idle road areas to provide distinctive seasonal attractions, contributing to the creation of a pleasant and beautiful landscape and the establishment of tourism infrastructure.
The county is perfectly maintaining road facilities to provide road users with a pleasant and safe road environment by timely repairing facilities damaged or degraded due to frequent summer heavy rains and typhoons.
Governor Kim Hee-su stated, “We plan to do our best to maintain roads safer and more pleasant than any other region nationwide,” and added, “We will put more effort into snow removal work to prevent vehicle congestion and traffic accidents caused by snow in winter.”
Meanwhile, Jeollanam-do conducts evaluations twice a year for all cities and counties to grasp the status of road management in accordance with the Road Act and regulations on road maintenance and repair.
