Chung Eui-sun, Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group and President of the Korea Archery Association, mentioned that various new technologies are being developed to support South Korean archery at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Chairman Chung made these remarks on the 1st during a meeting with reporters at the Korea Archery 60th Anniversary event held at Walkerhill Hotel in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. He stated that he plans to attend the 2024 Paris Olympics in person to support South Korean archery, adding, "In addition to the technologies introduced so far, we will continue to develop new methods to provide ongoing support."
Since the 2016 Rio Olympics, various new technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), vision recognition, and 3D printing have been introduced into athlete training. These technologies were developed through Hyundai Motor Group’s research and development (R&D), and it is known that Chairman Chung actively proposed their adoption. The effectiveness of these new technologies has been proven by the performance of Korean athletes on the world stage.
Regarding why South Korean archery enjoys national affection, he credited "all the athletes." Earlier at the event, Chairman Chung also spoke about the significance and value of archery as a sport during his keynote speech. He emphasized the importance of maintaining national dignity and pride without being obsessed with results and achievements.
Chairman Chung stressed, "(More than results,) what is important is for all of us to show the true image of a leader who does not lose dignity and composure under any circumstances," adding, "Through this, we can elevate the nation’s dignity and instill pride in the people. That is the value and meaning of sports."

Korean archery began to take shape with its membership in the International Archery Federation in 1963. It developed dramatically after the establishment of the Korea Archery Association in 1983. When Chung Mong-koo, Honorary Chairman, took office as the President of the Korea Archery Association in 1985, he laid the foundation for South Korean archery to leap to the top of the world by discovering talent and localizing equipment.
On this day, the Korea Archery Association presented a special plaque of appreciation to Honorary Chairman Chung. The plaque and a model bow prepared by the association were received by his two daughters, Chung Sung-yi, an advisor at Innocean, and Chung Myung-yi, President of Hyundai Commercial, on his behalf.
Chairman Chung was appointed President of the Korea Archery Association in 2005. Since his appointment, he has contributed to South Korean archery reaching the world’s top level by stabilizing the association’s finances, improving athletic performance through sports science, and systematizing the development of outstanding athletes.
