West Sea Coast Guard Cheong Holds Training and Meeting for Honorary Marine Environment Monitors and Volunteers
Sharing 2023 Operational Performance and Best Practices, and Listening to Suggestions
The West Sea Regional Coast Guard Agency (Chief Kim In-chang) announced on the morning of the 30th that it held a training and meeting session for honorary marine environment monitors and marine pollution prevention volunteers at the West Sea Coast Guard dormitory.
This training and meeting session was organized to boost the pride of honorary marine environment monitors and marine pollution prevention volunteers who actively worked for marine environmental conservation throughout 2023, and to seek ways to improve their activities.
Outstanding honorary marine environment monitors and marine pollution prevention volunteers are receiving certificates of commendation and appreciation letters and taking commemorative photos.

About 25 participants, including honorary marine environment monitors and marine pollution prevention volunteers, attended the session, which included sharing the 2023 operational achievements and best practices, as well as listening to suggestions.
In particular, the West Sea Coast Guard selected Mr. Kim Yu-seok as the honorary marine environment monitor of the year.
Mr. Kim Yu-seok, an honorary marine environment monitor in the Mokpo area, was recognized for his contributions to creating a beautiful marine environment through reporting stranded vessels, marine debris cleanup activities, and marine pollution prevention patrols, and received a commendation from the Commissioner of the Korea Coast Guard.
Along with this, seven outstanding honorary marine environment monitors and marine pollution prevention volunteers also received certificates of commendation and appreciation.
The West Sea Coast Guard has 481 honorary marine environment monitors and 346 marine pollution prevention volunteers. They conduct monitoring activities to prevent marine pollution, pollution prevention operations for marine environmental conservation, and underwater and coastal cleanup activities.

Kim Man-jung, head of the Marine Pollution Prevention Division at the West Sea Coast Guard, said, “Our small interest and efforts can be a great help to the marine environment,” and added, “We ask for continued participation in protecting the marine environment in the future.”
