KOSPI Slightly Lower Intraday Due to Selling by Institutions and Foreigners

View original imageThe KOSPI index is showing a slightly weak trend during the session, pressured by selling from institutions and foreigners.
As of 10:12 AM on the 29th, the KOSPI index is trading at 2516.14, down 0.22% from the previous day.
By investor type, institutions and foreigners are net sellers of 192.6 billion KRW and 49.4 billion KRW respectively, weighing on the index, while individuals are defending by net buying 245.1 billion KRW. In the futures market, institutions and individuals are net buyers of 140.1 billion KRW and 48.4 billion KRW respectively, whereas foreigners are net sellers of 233.8 billion KRW.
Despite the strong performance of the New York stock market the previous day, the domestic market opened near flat. This is interpreted as cautious sentiment ahead of upcoming data releases such as manufacturing indices and inflation, despite expectations that U.S. interest rate hikes will slow down.
By sector, most sectors are declining. The insurance sector fell 1.2%, food and beverages -0.8%, medical precision -0.77%, distribution -0.8%, construction -0.73%, finance -0.73%, textiles and apparel -0.65%, chemicals -0.68%, and telecommunications -0.56%. On the other hand, the machinery sector rose 0.48%, transportation equipment 0.13%, and paper and wood 0.03% showed strength.
Top market capitalization stocks are mixed. Samsung Electronics is down 0.14%, SK Hynix -1.14%, POSCO Holdings -0.21%, LG Chem -0.79%, NAVER -0.24%, and Celltrion -0.97%. Conversely, LG Energy Solution is up 0.92%, Samsung Biologics 0.69%, Hyundai Motor 0.11%, and Kia 1.06% are rising.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ index is fluctuating near flat. The KOSDAQ index is up 0.06% from the previous day, trading at 816.93. By investor type, institutions and foreigners are net sellers of 20.5 billion KRW and 29.6 billion KRW respectively, while individuals are net buyers of 63.9 billion KRW.
Top market capitalization stocks on KOSDAQ show mixed movements. Ecopro BM and Ecopro are up 0.61% and 0.28% respectively, L&F 1.92%, HLB 0.46%, Alteogen 0.38%, and Rainbow Robotics 1.58% are strong. Meanwhile, Celltrion Healthcare is down 0.82%, POSCO DX -2.09%, and JYP Ent. -0.74% are declining.
