Hyundai Motor "Expanded Business Base While Hosting Expo Bid Activities"
Hyundai Motor Group announced on the 29th that while engaging in activities to host the 2030 Busan World Expo, it achieved the effect of strengthening the company’s business foundation and competitiveness.
The company stated, "We focused on enhancing the national brand image by utilizing the group’s global channels and platforms to promote Korea and Busan’s global status, hosting capabilities, and differentiated competitiveness," adding that they concentrated on raising awareness through individual negotiations, digital campaigns, and eco-friendly mobility.
It further explained, "We achieved the effect of strengthening the group’s business foundation and competitiveness by promoting mutual cooperation and building continuous relationships in various fields such as business and social contribution activities," and noted, "In some underdeveloped countries, it became an opportunity to increase the group’s recognition by introducing Hyundai Motor Group’s advanced technologies and future businesses in detail."

Jung Eui-sun, Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, is known to have encouraged employees during his business trip to Paris for the Expo bid to do their best for the country until the very end. Chairman Jung, who stayed in Paris to watch the voting results until the end, reportedly praised the employees for their hard work after the vote concluded. At a dinner hosted by the International Bureau of Expositions (BIE) representatives held locally on the 23rd, Chairman Jung emphasized, "Regardless of the (voting) outcome, Korea will keep its promises to all countries."
Hyundai Motor Group decided to maintain steady exchanges with the relevant countries following this bid and to cooperate in various fields including automotive parts, mineral resources, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and railway and small modular reactor (SMR) infrastructure. This year, Hyundai Motor Group introduced the Green Light Project, a self-reliance support initiative for underdeveloped countries, in three new countries: Albania, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique. Regardless of the Expo bid results, the group plans to expand the same project further in the African region next year.

From the perspective of supply chains for automotive parts and minerals, the group evaluated that it established points of contact to diversify supply channels. They are seeking new partners to diversify parts supply with neighboring countries of the Czech Republic and Slovakia, where Hyundai and Kia production plants are located. A Hyundai Motor Group official stated, "The various cooperative projects pursued during the Busan Expo bid process will continue regardless of the bid outcome, and we plan to further strengthen mutual cooperation."
