'Defense Quality 4.0' Forum... "Let's Achieve Perfect Military Supplies Quality"
LIG Nex1 received the prestigious Presidential Citation at the ‘9th Defense Quality Management Awards’ ceremony held by the Defense Technology Quality Institute on the 28th. The Defense Quality Management Awards, initiated in 2004, are given every three years to outstanding companies to encourage innovation in defense quality activities and improvements in quality management.
According to LIG Nex1 on the 29th, the company was recognized not only for product development in guided missile systems, radars, and various key electronic equipment but also for its systematic production, support, and safety quality verification processes. Additionally, it received high evaluations for continuous and rational promotion of process operation assessments and improvements, as well as for excellence in smartization and automation utilizing Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies. The award ceremony held the previous day at the Korea Science and Technology Center in Seoul was attended by over 250 personnel including representatives and experts responsible for quality management of military supplies from the public, private, military, industrial, academic, and research sectors.
At the ceremony, Zenoco received the Prime Minister’s Citation, Korean Air Aerospace Division and Iljin Electronics Industry received the Minister of National Defense Citation, Kyungin Tech and Peopleworks received the Defense Acquisition Program Administration Commissioner’s Citation, and VICTEK and Qnion received the Defense Technology Quality Institute Director’s Citation. Additionally, eight quality management contributors from the awarded companies were separately honored with the Director’s Citation and prizes.
This year’s evaluation was conducted across five categories: strategic leadership, process management, resource management, supply chain management, and defense quality management performance. Notably, the evaluation model also incorporated smart factory and digital quality management aspects to promote a quality management culture fitting for the ‘Defense Quality 4.0’ era. Defense Quality 4.0 refers to the use of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies to continuously improve the quality of military supplies by collecting and analyzing quality data throughout the entire lifecycle?from research and development to mass production and operational maintenance?and performing digital-based preventive quality management.
