"Earlier than usual"... Samsung Electronics to announce executive reshuffle as early as the 27th
Samsung Electronics is expected to sequentially carry out executive and management personnel appointments and organizational restructuring in the near future.
According to business circles on the 26th, Samsung Electronics will announce executive appointments as early as the 27th or 28th. This will be followed by management appointments and organizational restructuring in order.
Prior to the personnel changes, the company is reported to have individually notified executives subject to retirement that their contract renewals will not be possible. Samsung Electronics usually holds personnel appointments in early December, but this year the schedule has been moved up somewhat. Last year, executive appointments were made on December 5th, followed by management appointments on the 6th.
Given the challenging business environment due to the global economic recession and semiconductor downturn, it is interpreted that the company aims to revamp the organization early to reorganize the system and prepare for next year.
The key point of this personnel change is whether the 'two-top system' led for two years by Han Jong-hee, Head of the DX Division (Vice Chairman), and Kyung Kye-hyun, Head of the DS Division (President), will be maintained. It is reported that both are likely to remain in their positions for now.
Attention is also focused on whether organizational restructuring will take place following calls for the revival of the group control tower. Accordingly, the future of Jung Hyun-ho, head of the Business Support Task Force (TF), is also being closely watched.
Last year, Lee Young-hee, Head of Global Marketing, became the first female president at Samsung outside the owner family. Expectations are high for surprise appointments this year as well, centered on female talent and young leaders in their 30s and 40s.
