Boseong-gun Wins Top Award in Comprehensive Livestock Policy Evaluation
Jeollanam-do Honored with Evaluation Award for 4 Consecutive Years
Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 23rd that it won the Grand Prize in the ‘2023 Livestock Policy Comprehensive Evaluation’ hosted by Jeollanam-do.
Jeollanam-do conducts an annual comprehensive evaluation of livestock policies targeting 22 cities and counties within the province to smoothly promote environmentally friendly livestock policies and enhance livestock competitiveness.
Boseong-gun achieved the remarkable feat of winning awards for four consecutive years in the ‘Livestock Policy Comprehensive Evaluation,’ receiving the Grand Prize in 2021, the Excellence Award in 2022, and the Top Excellence Award in 2020 and 2023, thereby proving the excellence of its livestock administration.
The evaluation covers a total of 28 items across four fields: livestock policy, animal welfare, livestock management, and livestock resources.
Boseong-gun received high marks across all fields, including ▲Livestock Policy - excellence in promoting the Green Livestock Development Fund and outstanding performance in the Livestock ICT Convergence Project, ▲Animal Welfare - achievement of organic and antibiotic-free certification targets, excellence in protecting abandoned animals and supporting dairy farmers, ▲Livestock Management - achievement of summer forage targets in rice paddies and excellent management of feed manufacturing businesses, and ▲Livestock Resources - improvement in livestock breeding density and excellence in implementing measures to reduce livestock odor, resulting in the Top Excellence Award.
A representative from Boseong-gun stated, “Winning for four consecutive years is the result of actively promoting the environmentally friendly livestock project, a key policy of Jeollanam-do,” and added, “We will continue to ensure the sustainability of livestock farming, a core industry of the rural economy, by stabilizing the management of livestock farms and discovering and fostering new income projects.”
Meanwhile, Boseong-gun is investing 12 billion KRW in 54 projects across four fields this year to strengthen livestock competitiveness. In 2024, reflecting farmers’ requests, it plans to secure and support funds for its own projects including 600 million KRW for livestock barn ventilation fans, 300 million KRW for forage silage manufacturing and transportation costs, 250 million KRW for purchasing forage corn, 100 million KRW for livestock manure composting agents, and 780 million KRW for artificial insemination fees for Korean cattle.
