Gyeongnam National University Graduate School of Public Administration Holds Opening Ceremony for the 13th Class of the Unification Future Executive Program
The Graduate School of Public Administration at Gyeongnam National University held the opening ceremony for the 13th Unification Future Senior Executive Program at the Changjo Building Peace Hall.
The Unification Future Senior Executive Program, jointly operated by Gyeongnam National University and the University of North Korean Studies, was established to invite experts with extensive experience in unification, diplomacy, and security fields to provide insights into the past, present, and future of the Korean Peninsula. The 13th session will run until January 2024.
The opening ceremony held on the afternoon of the 23rd consisted of Part 1, a special lecture by Yang Moo-jin, President of the University of North Korean Studies, and Part 2, a welcome reception for new students.
In the special lecture, Yang Moo-jin, President of the University of North Korean Studies, spoke on the topic of "Kim Jong-un Regime's Strategy toward South Korea," explaining ▲North Korea's traditional strategy toward South Korea ▲the strategies during the Kim Jong-il and Kim Jong-un eras ▲recent factors determining North Korea's strategy toward South Korea ▲and our response directions.
In particular, he engaged with the students on the recent suspension of part of the September 19 military agreement by our government following North Korea's launch of the military reconnaissance satellite Malligyong-1, exchanging diverse opinions.
Following this, at the welcome reception for new students, Lee Kyung-hee, CEO of Haemin Gallery, was elected as the president of the 13th Unification Future Senior Executive Program student council. The 13th Unification Future Senior Executive Program is composed of about 100 diverse social leaders, including politicians, legal professionals, financiers, journalists, police officers, professors, and CEOs of companies.

The 13th session of the Unification Future Senior Executive Program features lectures by top domestic experts such as President Park Jae-kyu (former Minister of Unification), Yang Moo-jin, President of the University of North Korean Studies, Lee Kwan-se, Director of the Institute for Far Eastern Studies (former Vice Minister of Unification), Professor Yoo Young-soo and Chair Professor Ahn Ho-young (former Ambassador to the United States) of the University of North Korean Studies, former Ambassador to Russia Park No-byeok, Kang Jun-young, Director of the Center for International Area Studies at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Shin Jeong-hwa, Director of the Japan Research Center at Dongseo University, Kim Il-han, Research Fellow at the DMZ Center of the North Korean Studies Institute at Dongguk University, and Lee Cheol, Senior Research Fellow at the Peace Foundation, who will deliver special lectures.
