Gwangju Seo-gu Ranks First Among Autonomous Districts in Road Lighting Maintenance Evaluation
Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) announced on the 23rd that it ranked first among the five autonomous districts in Gwangju in the 'Road Lighting Maintenance Evaluation' conducted by Gwangju City.
In this evaluation targeting the five autonomous districts of Gwangju, Seo-gu, which ranked first after comprehensively reviewing ▲ streetlight maintenance ▲ electrical facility inspections by the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation ▲ operation of the integrated road lighting control system ▲ implementation performance of auxiliary projects ▲ securing district budgets, secured an incentive of 40 million KRW.

View original imageSeo-gu improved nighttime brightness through consistent facility inspections and LED replacements targeting 11,627 streetlights, and worked to alleviate residents' inconveniences and ensure safety by repairing unsuitable facilities (distribution boxes, underground lines, etc.) to prevent electrical safety accidents.
Additionally, this year, Seo-gu established a GIS-based streetlight database, attaching streetlight management numbers and fault report phone numbers, which enabled accurate location identification of streetlights and shortened complaint processing times, resulting in improved resident satisfaction and electricity cost savings.
Park Yoonchul, Director of Construction in Seo-gu, said, "We will do our best to maintain and manage streetlights to minimize residents' inconvenience," adding, "We will continue to take the lead in creating a bright and safe Seo-gu."
