This is the first official visit to Gyeonggi Province by an organization from the Osaka and Kansai regions. The Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, leading this delegation, is a prominent economic organization representing the Kansai region of Japan, with over 30,000 member companies from Osaka and the Kansai area.
On the 23rd, Governor Kim met with the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry investment cooperation delegation, led by Takeshi Saito, Executive Director of NTT Docomo, at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office. He explained, "If the chambers of commerce or businesspeople in Osaka and Kansai are looking for international business partners, Gyeonggi Province will probably be the best partner."
He added, "Gyeonggi Province is the economic and industrial center of South Korea, especially focusing on the 4th Industrial Revolution sectors such as semiconductors, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and advanced mobility. If you visit Pangyo, the cradle and heart of Korean ventures, you can see this with your own eyes."
Governor Kim emphasized, "The economic power between Korea and Japan is extremely important. As the closest neighboring countries, cooperating together can exert great influence internationally. I hope the cooperative relationship between Gyeonggi Province and Osaka Kansai will be strengthened."
In particular, Governor Kim introduced his connection with Osaka in Japanese, which he personally prepared.
He recalled, "I worked as a public official for 40 years, from a junior officer to Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, and my first overseas business trip in my twenties was to Osaka, Japan. Even now, I vividly remember the vibrancy of Osaka Castle and the Dotonbori street at that time."
In response, Takeshi Saito, the delegation leader, said, "I understand that Gyeonggi Province is the economic center of Korea, actively linking with Japanese companies and promptly attracting foreign investment. The Osaka Kansai Expo is scheduled to be held in 2025, and I hope the relationship between our two countries will become even stronger. I hope today will be an opportunity for a new beginning through exchanging various information with everyone in Gyeonggi."
The ‘Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry Investment Cooperation Delegation’ visiting Gyeonggi consists of 21 members from 16 companies in Osaka and the Kansai region. For the purpose of discovering investment cooperation companies, they will visit Gyeonggi, Seoul, and Incheon over three days and two nights, touring startup-related facilities and meeting companies. They will participate in an investment briefing session featuring six promising startups held at Pangyo Second Techno Valley.
