Competition Mark, Mascot, Poster, Slogan, and Motto Unveiled
Preparing for the Provincial Sports Festival with Regional Characteristics, Communication, and Harmony
Gumi City in Gyeongbuk has finalized the official symbol manual to be used for various promotions and to create an atmosphere for the 62nd Gyeongbuk Provincial Sports Festival, which will be held over four days from May 10 to 13, 2024.
From June 12 to July 31, a nationwide contest was held to collect symbol designs, and on August 11, the 62nd Gyeongbuk Provincial Sports Festival Symbol Committee held a fair and professional evaluation to select the official symbol.
Subsequently, through a professional design development service, the symbol was revised and supplemented to suit the characteristics of Gumi City, and after a final report meeting on November 14, the symbol manual was completed.
The event mark symbolizes the successful hosting of the festival and the infinite potential of the people of Gyeongbuk by depicting Gumi’s landmarks, ‘Geumosan (Giant Statue)’ and the ‘Nakdong River.’
The mascot is inspired by the city’s mascot ‘Tomi’ and features a pair of male and female turtles. Reflecting Gumi’s semiconductor specialized complex, the two turtles are tied together by one leg on a semiconductor-shaped track, expressing the unity of 2.6 million residents of the province.
The poster reflects Gumi’s determination to always lead with full power amid changing times by depicting a sprinter’s full-speed dash and an arrow pointing in the same direction, highlighting the image of Gumi as a cutting-edge city.
The event slogan is “The Power of Gyeongbuk United in New Hope from Gumi,” and the motto is “The Dream of Gyeongbuk United in the Cutting-edge City of Gumi,” clearly expressed using colors and italic fonts.
The city plans to promote the event in various ways using the finalized symbols.
