Gurye Jirisan and Hanadoegi Farm Receive Grand Prize
On November 14, Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that Gurye Jirisan and Hanadoegi Farm (CEO Kang Seung-ho) won the grand prize at the Rural Education Farm Program Central Competition hosted by the Rural Development Administration.
The Rural Education Farm Program Competition is promoted to discover excellent programs linked to educational policies targeting quality-certified rural education farms, support creative experiential activities, and enhance quality competitiveness.
In this competition, six farms nationwide were selected as excellent program farms, and after a public vote and presentation evaluation, Jirisan and Hanadoegi Farm was honored with the grand prize.
The “Ecological Pond Program under the Cornus officinalis Tree” at Jirisan and Hanadoegi Farm is an ecological experience program involving aquatic insects in a pond, utilizing the agricultural environment where Cornus officinalis is organically cultivated.
This program is also linked to school curricula, allowing students to engage in self-directed activities, and is expected to create a convergence synergy between education and agriculture, receiving high praise from the judges.
Kang Seung-ho, CEO of Jirisan and Hanadoegi Farm, is also Gurye-gun’s first certified healing agriculturist. He developed the “Healthy Cornus officinalis Lotus Leaf Rice Experience Program” and conducts healing programs at senior centers and nursing homes in Gurye.
Additionally, CEO Kang stated, “Through Cornus officinalis, an agricultural heritage of Gurye, we will develop and operate more diverse programs so that local children can connect with nature and take pride in our region.”
A county official said, “We will do our best to foster rural education farms and develop excellent experiential activity programs.”
