Users Select Time and Bus Stop to Make Reservations
44-Seat Buses Operate 8 Times a Day with 2 Vehicles
Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 23rd that it will start operating the 'Metropolitan Call Bus' pilot project running between Dongtan 1 and 2 New Towns and Sadang Station in Seoul from the 27th.
The Metropolitan Call Bus is a demand-customized bus service that allows users in areas with inconvenient metropolitan transportation to reserve and board by selecting their desired time and stop. The city explained that it signed an agreement with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Gyeonggi Province in June to conduct the pilot project and discussed specific implementation plans, leading to the launch of this route.
The Metropolitan Call Bus operating this time runs between Dongtan Giheung-ro in Hwaseong Dongtan 1 and 2 New Towns and Sadang Station, a transfer station for Seoul Subway Lines 2 and 4. Two large buses with 44 seats each are deployed and operate eight times a day on weekdays only.
To use the service, users can make reservations for stops, seats, and boarding times through the 'Home Screen - View All - Metropolitan Call Bus Icon' on the KakaoT app provided by Kakao Mobility. General reservations will be available from the 24th.
Starting in December, regular boarding during commuting hours for the following month can be applied for through advance reservations from the 16th to the 20th of each month, and one-time boarding is also possible through general reservations.
Until the end of this year, boarding is free by scanning the QR code provided inside the vehicle, and from next year, fares will be paid using transportation cards, with transfer discounts available when connecting to other transportation modes.
