Gwangju Seo-gu Receives 'Food Safety Management Award' from MFDS Director...The Only Autonomous District in Gwangju
Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) announced on the 22nd that it received a commendation from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for its contribution to improving the meal environment for the elderly and disabled in the field of elderly and disabled meal management.
This award selected 6 out of 236 meal management support centers nationwide operated by local governments, and Seo-gu Children and Social Welfare Meal Management Support Center is the only one in Gwangju.

Seo-gu, which started the support project for children's meal sites in 2013, expanded the project target to elderly and disabled facilities from 2020, registering and managing a total of 329 meal sites, including 255 children's meal sites and 74 social welfare meal sites.
In particular, Seo-gu conducts basic projects such as meal site visits, education by target group, and information provision, as well as specialized projects such as the non-face-to-face "Todak Todak Mind Package" project during the COVID-19 period, ATP measurement project for improving kitchen hygiene, and SNS activities for interactive communication.
Also, this year at the Spring Academic Conference of the Korean Society of Food and Nutrition, the center widely publicized its expertise by receiving the Excellent Paper Poster Award under the theme "Basic Research for Smart Digital Healthcare Program."
Heo Youngran, head of the Seo-gu Meal Management Support Center, said, "Taking this award as an opportunity, we will further raise the nutrition and safety levels of vulnerable groups such as children, elderly, and disabled, and make it a leading meal management support center nationwide," adding, "We will do our best to create a healthier local community."
