Wando-gun Wins Encouragement Award at 'Cancer Management Project Evaluation Contest'

Home Visit Medical Care by Korean Medicine Doctors for Cancer Patients... Selected as an Excellent Case in Jeonnam Region

Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do recently announced on the 22nd that it received the Encouragement Award at the '2023 Cancer Management Project Evaluation Contest' held by the Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Cancer Center.

This contest was organized to encourage the promotion of cancer management projects for local residents, share excellent cases, and discuss the direction for cancer management projects in 2024.

The county was highly evaluated for conducting health checks and promoting visits by Korean medicine doctors for 388 home-based cancer patients and their families, as well as for implementing an elderly health management project based on artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IOT), and was selected as an excellent case in the Jeonnam region.

In addition, to overcome the limitations of island areas, the county operates self-help groups for home-based cancer patients by region and is making efforts to manage home-based cancer patients by providing practical training to strengthen the capabilities of professional personnel who provide visiting services.

A county official stated, “We plan to expand the self-help groups for home-based cancer patients,” and added, “Those who wish to receive services are encouraged to contact the Visiting Health Team at the Health and Medical Center.”
