Jung-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Gil-seong) will hold the '2023 Myeongdong Light Festival' to celebrate the year-end and New Year holidays.
This festival is hosted by the Myeongdong Tourism Special Zone Council and supported by Jung-gu, Lotte Duty Free, Lotte Department Store, and Alipay Plus. It will take place around the Myeongdong area until January 13.
Various light sculptures are installed on the street trees and street lamps throughout the streets centered around the Myeongdong Arts Theater, providing a unique visual experience for tourists visiting Myeongdong.
First, a large tree adorned with wave-patterned star-shaped lights has been installed in front of the Myeongdong Arts Theater. Along the streets connecting Myeongdong Jungang-ro and Myeongdong Station, centered on the Myeongdong Arts Theater, lights are installed following the lines of each tree. Each tree shows its own personality while harmonizing with the entire street. On Myeongdong-gil, lights shaped like pouring starlight have been installed to create a romantic atmosphere.
During the festival period, various street performances will be held in front of the Myeongdong Arts Theater every Tuesday and Thursday from 12:00 PM to 2:40 PM. Performances by skilled live teams including jazz, guitar, popular songs, vibraphone, and traditional Korean music (gugak) will continue.
