Gwangju Seo-gu Leads the Way in Realizing 'Resource Circulation Hub Gamtan Seo-gu'
Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) is accelerating the realization of Gamtan Seo-gu, the number one resource circulation district, through a resident-participatory resource circulation policy.
On the 21st, Seo-gu announced that it held an awards ceremony in four resource circulation-related fields the previous day, including ▲Outstanding Resource Circulation Managers ▲Excellent Resource Circulation Apartment Competition ▲Food Waste Reduction Poster Contest ▲Waste Diet Video Contest in Daily Life, along with a time to share outstanding case achievements.
On the 20th, Seogu District Office held the 'Resource Circulation Performance Sharing & Awards Ceremony' at Deulbul Hall.

Nine activists (Kim Youngran, Yoon Jaesook, Ko Seonju, Yang Hyoja, Yoon Jeongja, Han Jeongsook, Kim Myeongja, Song Wonyoung, Son Youngja) who volunteer to operate resource circulation stores and expand resident participation in frontline neighborhoods were selected as Outstanding Resource Circulation Managers.
In the Excellent Resource Circulation Apartment Competition, Kumho Bestville (Kumho 2-dong) and Sangmu Yeongmu Yedaeum (Chipyeong-dong), which had the highest resource circulation practice rates, received the grand prize, and four apartments were selected for the highest and excellence awards respectively.
In the food waste reduction poster contest held for elementary school students, Yang Seungyu (Salesio Elementary School Grade 2) and Lee Jia (Salesio Elementary School Grade 6) received the highest award.
In the waste diet video contest in daily life held for elementary, middle, and high school students, a work jointly submitted by eight students including Lee Nayoung from Gwangju Jungang Elementary School won the grand prize.
In particular, while conducting the resource circulation competition for apartments, Seo-gu achieved a reduction of 180,000 kg of food waste compared to the same period last year, saved 7.97 million KRW in processing costs, and collected 1,340 kg of waste fluorescent lamps and 1,240 kg of batteries.
Mayor Kim Ikang of Seo-gu said, “Environmental issues are everyone's responsibility and can only be solved together,” and added, “Let all residents unite their strength and wisdom to realize Gamtan Seo-gu, the number one resource circulation district.”
