Gwangju Buk-gu to Open 'Smart Library Branch 3' from the 22nd
Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City is opening its third smart library to residents and will begin full-scale operation.
According to Buk-gu on the 21st, the 'Buk-gu Smart Library Branch 3,' which has been promoted since May after being selected in the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's '2023 U-Library Service Construction Support Project' competition, has completed installation at the entrance of the right annex of Buk-gu Office and will start operation from the 22nd.
The smart library is an unmanned automated library system that allows residents to reserve books they want to read anytime through smartphones without directly visiting public libraries, and freely borrow and return them. It is available 365 days a year.
With a total project cost of 64 million KRW, this third smart library branch is stocked with about 60 books for infants, children, and adolescents, and about 140 adult books, including new releases and bestsellers, and operates from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Additionally, through linkage with the Buk-gu Integrated Library website, the 'Book Delivery Service,' which lends various books held by five district public libraries (Jungheung, Ilgok, Unam, Yangsan, and Sinyong Libraries), can be conveniently used at the smart library.
Any member of the Buk-gu public libraries can borrow up to three books per person for a maximum of 15 days, and the list of available books for borrowing can be checked through the Buk-gu Integrated Library website.
