Imsil-gun Accelerates Efforts to Create a Safe Workplace Environment... Consulting Underway
Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, has strengthened specialized consulting on the Serious Accidents Punishment Act by enhancing safety guidance education and supervision to create a safe workplace environment.
According to the county on the 21st, to respond to the expanding Serious Accidents Punishment Act, they are conducting consulting through a specialized labor law firm for safety and health to inspect and improve the safety and health management system within the organization.
The Serious Accidents Punishment Act (hereinafter referred to as the Act) was enacted on January 27, 2022, and is approaching its third year.
Serious accidents refer to industrial or public accidents that result in death or serious injury.
The Act is implemented with different timelines depending on the size of the workplace. For workplaces with 50 or more regular employees, it has been enforced since January 27, 2022.
For small workplaces with fewer than 50 employees (in the case of construction, projects with a contract amount less than 5 billion KRW), a two-year grace period was given, and enforcement will begin on January 27, 2024.
Accordingly, as the Act, which applied to workplaces with 50 or more employees, will be expanded to workplaces with 5 to fewer than 50 employees starting January 27 next year, business owners (management responsible persons) need to prepare for their obligations related to securing safety and health.
Through consulting, the county is emphasizing the importance of the management responsible person’s duties regarding safety and health compliance under the Act, leading efforts to create a safe working environment by establishing a self-regulatory prevention system through workplace risk assessments.
In particular, they are focusing on preventing serious accidents by identifying hazardous and dangerous factors and preparing improvement measures.
The risk assessment procedure includes ▲preparation such as data collection ▲identification of hazardous and dangerous factors through on-site inspection ▲risk determination such as acceptability judgment ▲establishment and implementation of risk reduction measures ▲recording and preservation.
County Governor Sim Min said, “It is necessary to recognize hazardous and dangerous factors in the workplace in advance to prevent accidents beforehand, and safety guidance education and supervision for accident prevention are important not only for affiliated workers but also for department managers.” He added, “Ahead of the expansion of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act enforcement, I hope that accident prevention and the spread of a safety culture will be realized in all workplaces.”
