The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced on the 21st that it held the '2023 Second Half Importer (Buyer) Invitation Export Consultation Meeting' over two days from the 15th to the 16th at the aT Center in Yangjae-dong, Seoul.
To expand exports in the agricultural and food sectors and related industries, a total of 255 companies from 27 countries worldwide (70 overseas importers and 185 domestic exporters) gathered in one place to conduct 966 one-on-one export consultations worth $81 million. Among these, 23 contracts and MOUs worth $7 million were signed on-site.
An official from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs explained, "In the agricultural and food sector, products such as soy sauce and Korean seasoning sauces, dumplings and tteokbokki (Korean rice cakes), yuzu, aloe, children's beverages, and snacks attracted the interest of importers. In the agricultural machinery sector, organic liquid fertilizer drew attention from importers in China and Nigeria, leading to on-site contracts and MOUs."
Notably, in the food service franchise sector, which participated for the first time in this export consultation meeting, barbecue and pork cutlet food service companies signed MOUs with importers from the United States and China to enter local markets.
On the last day of the consultation meeting, the 17th, importers visited distribution stores and department stores located in Seoul to observe the K-Food distribution trends. They experienced Korean traditional food culture by visiting the Traditional Liquor Gallery and the Food Master Experience Promotion Center, where they tasted traditional liquors and made traditional foods.
