Dongjak-gu Strengthens Comprehensive Winter Measures 'Even More Thoroughly'
Strengthening Protection for Vulnerable Groups and Snow Removal Response System, Inspecting Hazardous Facilities... Prioritizing Resident Safety
Dongjak-gu (Mayor Park Il-ha) announced that it has established a 'Comprehensive Winter Measures' plan to ensure that all residents can spend a safe and warm winter, which will be implemented for four months until March 15 of next year.
This year, the focus will be on protecting vulnerable groups and strengthening snow removal response systems through practical, community-centered measures that residents can directly feel.
First, efforts will be made to secure the safety of those vulnerable to cold waves. The district will expand the number of cold wave shelters from 18 to 30 locations and prepare for residents to use nearby senior centers and community service centers within the district during cold wave warnings.
Heating energy vouchers that allow selective purchase of heating sources such as electricity, city gas, and LPG will also be provided to reduce heating costs for vulnerable households. Additional support will be given to public senior centers for heating costs exceeding the existing reimbursement amount of 370,000 KRW.
Furthermore, on-site efforts will be made to identify welfare blind spots and connect customized welfare services, while visiting nurses from the public health center will conduct focused health management by visiting households of elderly living alone, chronic patients, and persons with disabilities who are vulnerable to health issues.
This year, snow removal response capability has been strengthened by focusing on modern equipment rather than manpower. The district has expanded its fleet with eight small snow removal vehicles, two 1-ton snow spreaders, one brine agitator, and a 20,000-liter brine tank, and newly installed 2,849 meters of automatic road heating cables and seven automatic brine spraying devices on steep slopes.
In addition, to quickly replenish snow removal agents, the number of mobile snow removal forward bases has been increased to 18, improving operational efficiency.
Moreover, the district prioritizes residents' safety during winter by inspecting construction sites vulnerable to winter conditions, steep slope facilities, traditional markets, and gas handling facilities.
From December to March of next year, designated as the 'Seasonal Management Period,' continuous inspections and guidance on emission facilities for high-concentration fine dust and road cleaning will be conducted. Measures for residents' health, such as support for infectious disease vaccinations and special inspections of imported seafood handling businesses and Noryangjin Fish Market, will also be carefully managed.
