Selected Rose-Shaped Design to Become Symbolic Landmark of Rose Blossom Street
Installation Service to Begin at Month-End, Target Completion in April 2024
Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) has revealed the outline of landscape lighting that will add symbolism to the Rose Light Street area near Exit 7 of Meokgol Station.
The district selected the landscape lighting design on the 7th of this month following the proposal evaluation for the 'Rose Light Street Landscape Lighting Design and Installation Service' conducted since last October. The winning entry was a joint proposal by Wiz Co., Ltd. and Jinwon Engineering Co., Ltd.
Rose Light Street is a rose-themed street connected to the embankment of Jungnangcheon, where the representative festival of Jungnang-gu, the 'Seoul Rose Festival,' is held annually. The winning design received high praise for designing lighting in the shape of a large rose to highlight the street’s unique characteristics and symbolism.
The landscape facility is a large rose structure measuring 800mm in width, 800mm in length, and 3 to 5 meters in height. The landscape lighting will be installed at the meeting place, the entrance to Rose Light Street, and is expected to attract foot traffic and revitalize the local commercial district.
The district plans to start the installation service by the end of this month, gather residents’ opinions, and conduct design reviews, aiming for completion in April 2024.
Part of the budget for this landscape lighting installation was prepared through the 2022 Resident Participation Budget, where residents directly propose projects, reflecting the hopes of residents wishing to revitalize Rose Light Street.

Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “The landscape lighting shaped like a rose will become a landmark that further emphasizes the meaning of Rose Light Street,” adding, “We will continue to promote various projects to highlight the characteristics of Rose Light Street and revitalize the local economy.”
