Professor Seok Jae-wang Appointed to Yongin City's 'Safety Management Public-Private Cooperation Committee'
Advisory Role in City Safety Policy for 2 Years
On the 21st, Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it has appointed Professor Seok Jae-wang, a disaster safety expert from the Department of Security and Disaster Management at Konkuk University, as a 'Member of the Yongin City Safety Management Public-Private Cooperation Committee.'

Professor Seok graduated from the Department of Political Science at Yonsei University, earned a master's degree in Public Administration from the same university's graduate school, and completed a doctorate in International Politics at Sungkyunkwan University.
He served as an advisory member of the 20th Presidential Transition Committee's Political, Judicial, and Administrative Subcommittee last year, and has held positions such as Chair of the Disaster Management Policy Advisory Committee at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and Chair of the Private Committee for Climate Crisis Disaster Response.
Professor Seok's term will last for two years until November 2025. He will utilize his experience and knowledge gained in the private sector to advise on the efficient establishment of the city's safety management policies.
With this appointment, the Safety Management Public-Private Cooperation Committee of the city will be composed of a total of 11 members, including Co-Chairman Hwang Jun-gi, the 2nd Vice Mayor, and Heo Jeong, the head of Yongin City's Autonomous Disaster Prevention Group.

Professor Seok said, "I am pleased to participate in innovating the safety management of Yongin City, which is growing most dynamically with recent new town developments," adding, "I will do my best to provide advice, including proposing innovative measures for disaster prevention in the city."
