Imangyu Daegu City Council Chairman: "Please Ensure National Funding Support to Promote Daegu's Current Projects"
Visit to the National Assembly, Meeting with Daegu Area Lawmakers
Chairman Imangyu of the Daegu Metropolitan Council visited the National Assembly on the 20th to request the attention and active support of local members of the National Assembly to ensure that major local projects in Daegu are sufficiently reflected in the 2024 national budget.
The visit to the National Assembly was made to request cooperation in securing sufficient national funds so that major Daegu city projects that were either not reflected or only partially reflected in the 2024 government budget proposal can proceed smoothly.

View original imageChairman Imangyu met consecutively with local members of the People Power Party including Yang Geum-hee, a member of the National Assembly Budget and Accounts Committee, as well as Yoon Jae-ok, Lee In-seon, Kim Sang-hoon, Kang Dae-sik, and Kim Seung-soo at the National Assembly, Daegu, and Gyeongbuk New Airport investment briefing sessions. He emphasized the necessity of 10 major projects in the Daegu region and focused on requesting additional national budget allocations.
Among the 10 projects proposed this time, major local issues closely related to citizens' lives include the ‘Nakdong River Intake Diversification Project’ to secure safe drinking water, the ‘Gunwi Hwasu District Steep Slope Collapse Risk Area Maintenance Project’ to protect citizens' lives and property, and the ‘Sewer Pipeline Maintenance Project’ to provide a safe and clean river environment.
Additionally, projects necessary for regional advanced industry innovation include the ‘Intelligent Semiconductor Development and Demonstration Support’ for fostering the semiconductor industry and job creation outside the metropolitan area, the ‘Establishment of an Electromagnetic Wave Interference Evaluation System Simulating Actual Mobility Environments’ to become a future mobility specialized city, and the ‘Daegu Global Webtoon Center Creation and Operation’ project to establish a hub for the webtoon industry outside the metropolitan area. These projects were requested as requiring comprehensive cooperation from local members of the National Assembly.
Chairman Imangyu of the Daegu Metropolitan Council then met with Yoon Jae-ok, floor leader of the People Power Party, and deeply agreed that the special law for the Dalbit High-Speed Railway must be passed within this year for national balanced development, asking for the party's full efforts to expedite the Dalbit High-Speed Railway project.

Chairman Imangyu said, “Following last year, I arranged meetings with local members of the National Assembly despite a busy schedule to help secure national funds again this year. Although next year’s fiscal conditions will be more difficult than ever, the proposed projects are essential for Daegu’s future and cannot be postponed or compromised. Therefore, I will do my best to secure national funds through close cooperation with the local political community.”
