Mokpo Coast Guard and Authorities Conduct Joint Investigation on Fire of 17 Moored Fishing Vessels
Investigation Task Force Secures Nearby CCTV Footage and Witnesses
Mokpo Maritime Police Station (Chief Kim Hae-cheol) announced on the 20th that it will conduct a joint inspection with the Seohae Regional Maritime Police Agency and the National Forensic Service to investigate the cause of the fire on a moored fishing vessel that occurred on the 17th.
On the 17th, Mokpo Maritime Police received a report that vessels moored at Namchon Pier in Aphae-eup, Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do, were completely or partially damaged by fire.
As a result of the fire, 17 out of 21 vessels moored at the pier were damaged, but there were no reported casualties or marine pollution.

Mokpo Maritime Police established and operated a dedicated investigation team to examine the cause of the fire. They secured nearby CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts and conducted inquiries. Additionally, a joint inspection with the National Forensic Service was carried out at 1 p.m. on the 20th.
