Gwangju Dong-gu 'Sinaero Hanok Village Sarangchae' Opens
On the 20th, Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced the opening of the ‘Chungjang-dong Downtown Village Sarangchae’.
The Village Sarangchae is a place created by remodeling three buildings, including an old traditional Hanok building located in Geumnamno 4-ga, Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, into the Women’s Hope Creation Center, Village Sarangchae, and an annex building.
In particular, the main Sarangchae building was decorated to preserve the traditional appearance of the Hanok building as much as possible, exuding a strong Korean atmosphere.
The district plans to accelerate the discovery and promotion of distinctive village projects for each village Sarangchae.
With talent donations from the Hope Sharing Practice Group, it is expected to invigorate the creation of resident-led village communities.
Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, said, “It is meaningful that the ‘Village Sarangchae,’ recognized as a model case of village projects and a representative resident sharing and communication hub unique to Dong-gu, has opened as the ninth in Chungjang-dong.”
