Returning singles (divorcees) decided to divorce during their marriage with their ex-spouse, with men citing 'being ostracized by family' and women citing 'being subjected to power harassment' as the main reasons.

On the 20th, remarriage information company Only-U, in collaboration with marriage information company Bienarae (CEO Son Dong-gyu), conducted a survey via email and phone from the 13th to the 18th targeting 514 nationwide (elderly) remarriage hopeful divorcees (257 men and 257 women).
First, in response to the question, "During your marriage with your ex-spouse, in what situation did you consider divorce?" men most frequently answered "when being ostracized by (family)" (33.1%).
Next were "when treated like an invisible person" (29.2%) and "when feeling like a burden" (28.4%).
For women, 35.0% pointed to "being subjected to power harassment." Following that were "feeling like a burden" (29.5%) and "being ostracized" (23.4%).
Lee Kyung, General Manager of Bienarae, explained, "In many households, mothers and children become close, resulting in the husband (father) being ostracized. On the other hand, women often experience being ignored and belittled by their husbands and in-laws."

Next, in response to the question, "In what aspects did your spouse fail the most during your marriage?" men answered in order: ▲neglect of basic duties (36.2%) ▲selfish tendencies (32.7%) ▲unfair behavior as a spouse (19.8%).
Women answered: ▲unfair behavior as a spouse (34.2%) ▲neglect of basic duties (28.5%) ▲selfish tendencies (24.1%).
Lastly, both men and women cited "stinginess in expressing affection" (men 11.3%, women 13.2%).
An Only-U official explained, "Men tend to complain a lot about their wives' roles as housewives, such as household chores, child-rearing, and managing relatives. Women, on the other hand, have strong dissatisfaction with their husbands' unfair behaviors such as infidelity and family financial ruin."

Meanwhile, in response to the question, "What expression did you most want to hear from your ex-spouse during your marriage?" 31.1% of men answered "You are the best," and 30.3% of women chose "Thank you for your hard work."
