Kimchi Day is a legally designated commemorative day established in 2020 to promote the kimchi industry, inherit and develop kimchi culture, and raise awareness of kimchi's nutritional value and importance.
Daesang Jongga organized the Kimchi Sharing Campaign together with Professor Seo Kyung-duk of Sungshin Women's University, a Korean public relations expert, to increase interest in the valuable heritage of kimchi culture, which contains the wisdom of ancestors, and to widely promote the value of sharing. They delivered Jongga Kimchi to 100 people selected through a prior online event, as well as to welfare facilities such as Daniel Welfare Center, Dongdaemun Senior Welfare Center, and Wonju Comprehensive Social Welfare Center.
Ji Seung-hyun, director of Daniel Welfare Center, said, "With prices rising significantly, it was difficult to prepare kimchi for the winter," adding, "Thanks to this unexpected gift, all the members of the welfare center will be able to spend the winter with strength."
