"Japanese Dividend 1.1% with Principal Guarantee"... Investment Fraudster Who Embezzled 100 Million Won Sentenced to Prison with Probation
An investment fraudster who promised high dividends and principal protection and embezzled 100 million won was sentenced to a suspended prison term.
According to the legal community on the 18th, Judge In Hyeong-jun of the Criminal Division 9 of the Seoul Northern District Court sentenced A (44), who was indicted on charges of fraud, to 10 months in prison with a 2-year suspension on the 2nd. The court explained the sentencing reason, saying, "Although the nature of the crime is not good, the defendant admitted the crime and showed remorse, and reached a settlement with the victim, which are favorable circumstances."
A is accused of deceiving victim B, whom he met in Nowon-gu, Seoul, on May 20, 2019, by saying, "I operate the headquarters of a lottery game company with an investment of 2 billion won from a senior acquaintance. A certain portion of the game sales amount comes in as commission," and "If you give me 50 million won, I will pay dividends of 550,000 won per day, and if you give me 100 million won, I will pay 1.1 million won per day for 3 months and guarantee the principal," thereby embezzling investment funds.
Deceived by the lies, B transferred a total of 100 million won to A, 50 million won each on the 31st of the same month and the 28th of the following month.
