Nakdonggangcheong Holds Practical Council Meeting on River Management in Yeongnam Region
On the 17th, the Nakdong River Basin Environmental Office held a meeting of the Yeongnam Region River Management Working Council in the main conference room.
Attendees included the Daegu Regional Environmental Office, the agency responsible for maintaining and repairing national rivers in the Yeongnam area, as well as five metropolitan cities and provinces within the jurisdiction, the Korea Water Resources Corporation, and the Korea Rural Community Corporation.
The Nakdong River Office announced that it will establish a cooperative system among national river management agencies and actively respond to flood risks caused by climate change by effectively maintaining river facilities such as embankments.

View original imageAdditionally, the office has organized and operates a river management working council to maintain waterfront spaces along rivers, aiming to preserve the river environment and expand the usability of waterside areas.
The working council meetings are held annually by the Ministry of Environment to comprehensively discuss all aspects of national river maintenance, including the execution and appropriateness verification of direct expenses, subsidies, and entrusted management fees by each agency, flood response cooperation such as flood season inspections, river facility management, eradication of illegal activities within rivers, and prevention of major disasters.
At this meeting, the council focused on discussing the direction for projects necessary for national river management reflecting the requests of the five metropolitan cities and provinces within the jurisdiction, as well as the 2024 maintenance and repair plans for national rivers in the Yeongnam region.
