A fire broke out in a coal company building in Shanxi Province, China, resulting in 26 deaths and 63 injuries, according to Chinese state media on the 16th.
According to China CCTV and Xinhua News Agency, at around 6:50 a.m. that day, a fire occurred in a four-story building of "Yongju Coal Industry" located in Lishi District, Lvliang City, Shanxi Province. Twenty-six people died, and 63 were injured and transported to hospitals for treatment.
The fire started on the second floor, where there was a bathhouse. It then spread to the third floor, which had a conference room. Most of the victims were workers who had just finished their night shift and were bathing. CCTV cited local officials saying that the exact number of people inside the building at the time of the fire was not confirmed.

Local fire authorities extinguished the flames and began rescue operations. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Established in 2012, Yongju Coal Industry produces 1.2 million tons of coal annually and employs about 1,200 workers.
