Seoul Autonomous Police Committee: "Remember 'Dadada' in Case of Danger"
Distribution of Guidelines for Responding to Indiscriminate Crimes
The Seoul Metropolitan Autonomous Police Committee announced on the 16th that it will distribute to citizens a three-step 'Dadada (Run → Avoid → Report)' action guideline to respond to abnormal (indiscriminate) crimes.
The Dadada action guideline consists of three steps: Run → Avoid → Report. Step 1 is to run quickly to get away from the scene, Step 2 is to avoid by moving to a safe place nearby, and Step 3 is to report by calling or texting 112 or 119 once safety is secured.
This action guideline was reorganized to fit the circumstances of our country by referring to counter-terrorism action guidelines already used overseas in countries such as the United Kingdom, France, and the United States.
The Dadada action guideline, produced in booklet form, is scheduled to be distributed through autonomous districts and police stations starting at the end of this month. Anyone can download the e-book version from the Seoul Metropolitan Autonomous Police Committee website. The city plans to broadcast a 20-second video summarizing the Dadada action guideline on subways and electronic billboards through cooperation with local governments and related organizations.
Meanwhile, the city plans to distribute a portable SOS emergency bell called 'Jikimi,' equipped with an automatic police reporting function, starting at the end of December to request help from nearby people before the police arrive in emergency situations. Jikimi will be given first to 10,000 victims and those at risk of crimes such as sexual violence, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking.
