View original imageGyeonggi Province is launching an investigation into illegal activities targeting cosmetics companies within the province.
The Gyeonggi Province Special Judicial Police for Public Welfare announced on the 15th that from the 20th of this month until the 8th of next month, they will conduct a focused crackdown on illegal activities at 90 companies, including cosmetics manufacturers, responsible sellers, and customized cosmetics sellers within the province.
The main targets of the crackdown include ▲unregistered or unreported manufacturers and sellers ▲displaying certification marks or similar marks on uncertified cosmetics ▲misleading labeling or advertising as pharmaceuticals or certified products ▲violations of business operator compliance requirements.
Under the current "Cosmetics Act," manufacturing or selling cosmetics by unregistered or unreported manufacturers or sellers, or displaying certification marks or similar marks on uncertified cosmetics, is punishable by up to 3 years imprisonment or a fine of up to 30 million KRW. Misleading labeling or advertising as pharmaceuticals or certified products is punishable by up to 1 year imprisonment or a fine of up to 10 million KRW. Violations of business operator compliance requirements are subject to fines of up to 2 million KRW.
