Park Min, KBS President, Apologizes for Unfair Biased Reporting... Will Hold Responsible if Recurrence Occurs
"Investigate Major Unfair Broadcasting Incidents and Publish a White Paper"
Park Min, KBS President, held a press conference addressing the public and apologized for damaging fairness and losing trust due to unfair and biased reporting during the tenure of the former president.
At the press conference held on the 14th at the KBS Art Hall in Yeouido, Seoul, President Park stated, "I deeply regret the situation where we lost trust by undermining fairness, a core value of public broadcasting, and I sincerely apologize. (Going forward) we will prioritize securing fairness and trust as the top management values," he emphasized.

View original imagePresident Park referred to incidents such as the appearance of Yoon Ji-oh related to the Jang Ja-yeon death case and the 'Saengtaetang' (fish stew) controversy involving Mayor Oh Se-hoon during the Seoul mayoral election, pointing out, "In recent years, controversies over unfair bias have been continuous, and some hosts on TV and radio have unilaterally sided with one camp or selected biased panelists quite often." He also mentioned, "The flagship program News 9 issued an apology within a day for the so-called 'media-prosecutor collusion' false report, and related individuals were indicted following investigations by judicial authorities."
President Park said, "We will avoid reckless breaking news competition, activate fact-checking to prevent false reports, apologize if false reports occur, and as a principle, corrections will be reported at the beginning of the news. If controversies over unfairness arise, we will investigate right and wrong and hold responsible parties accountable." He also expressed his intention to publish a white paper to prevent recurrence of false report cases.

Regarding management difficulties due to separate collection of TV license fees, he stated, "We will eliminate the sequential production practice unrelated to the production team's capabilities and focus support on capable and verified directors." He added, "Executives including myself will lead by example by cutting 30% of our salaries, expand voluntary retirement, improve the inefficient inverted triangle workforce structure, and actively consider restructuring."
