Online By-election Opens Due to Kim's Resignation
Candidate Registration Until the 15th
The People Power Party will hold a by-election for the Supreme Council member position on the 29th due to the resignation of former lawmaker Kim Jae-won.
Park Jeong-ha, the chief spokesperson of the People Power Party, announced this on the morning of the 13th during the Supreme Council meeting, stating that the convening of the national committee related to the by-election for the Supreme Council member was approved.
The by-election is scheduled to be held online, with a total of 824 electors. Candidate registration for the by-election will take place on the 15th.
Previously, former Supreme Council member Kim was disciplined with a one-year suspension of party membership due to controversial remarks related to the Gwangju 5·18 and Jeju 4·3 incidents. Later, the party leadership accepted the Innovation Committee's recommendation for a 'general amnesty,' and the disciplinary action was revoked on the 2nd.
