'Hybrid Pioneer' Prius Complete Redesign, Pre-Orders Begin
Powertrain 2.0L Hybrid·PHEV
Toyota Korea is set to launch the 5th generation Prius domestically on the 13th of next month and will begin pre-orders from the 13th.
The Prius, the world's first mass-produced hybrid vehicle, has been completely redesigned as the 5th generation model. It inherits the unique design of the previous generation while minimizing unnecessary character lines.
The powertrain will be available in hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions. Both use a 2.0ℓ naturally aspirated gasoline engine. According to the company, performance and acceleration response have improved compared to the previous 1.8ℓ engine. The PHEV model is equipped with a 13.6 kWh lithium-ion battery, approximately 1.5 times larger in energy capacity than the previous generation. The driving range on a single charge is about 64 km (combined standard).
This vehicle applies Toyota's newly introduced 2nd generation TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform. Compared to the previous model, it features a lower and wider low-center-of-gravity body design, and improvements in driving stability and handling through body weight reduction and increased rigidity.
The interior center fascia is equipped with a 12.3-inch touch display, and the instrument cluster features a 7-inch full-color TFT multi-information display.
