Has the Marine City 'Coastal Conservation' Been Abandoned?… Busan City Councilor Lee Seung-yeon Criticizes 'Copy-Paste' Service Report
Criticism of "Waste of Public Funds" Due to Poor Supervision of Service Contracts in Busan City
Concerns have been raised by a Busan city council member that the coastal preservation projects in the maritime city of Busan are being conducted carelessly, drawing public attention.
On the 10th, Lee Seung-yeon, a member of the Busan City Council's Maritime City Safety Committee (Suyeong-gu 2, People Power Party), criticized the Busan city government for poor supervision of service contracts during the administrative audit of the Busan Marine Fisheries Bureau. The criticism focused on the coastal erosion monitoring project reports that have been ongoing for 10 years since 2014.
Councilor Lee emphasized the value and significance of Busan’s beaches and stated that monitoring is a very important project for coastal erosion response policies. However, she criticized the irresponsible administration for wasting precious tax money.
In particular, after directly reviewing the service reports from the past five years, she pointed out that from the report summaries to the analysis of monitoring results and policy recommendations, the text and photos were all essentially copy-and-paste work.
She highlighted critical data analysis errors and held the Busan city government accountable for its poor supervision of the service contracts.
Councilor Lee strongly demanded corrective measures for the coastal erosion monitoring project, which has been poorly managed so far, starting with an investigation into the contractors who produced such reports and ensuring Busan city’s thorough fulfillment of its supervisory duties.
