Metal Foreign Object Confirmed in Investigation Following Foreign Object Report
Sales Halted and Recall Initiated in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province Jurisdiction
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety has taken measures to halt sales after metallic foreign objects were found in pizza quesadillas circulating in the market.
On the 9th, the Ministry announced that a 19mm-long iron wire was detected in the 'Original Pizza Quesadilla' manufactured and sold by Company A, a food manufacturing and processing company located in Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi Province, and that the local authorities are conducting a recall.
As a result of the investigation by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety following a consumer foreign substance report, it was confirmed that wires from a cleaning wire brush used during the washing process of the oven tray (pizza pan), a production tool used in manufacturing, detached and mixed into the product.

According to the Ministry's investigation following consumer reports of foreign objects, it was confirmed that the iron wire came off from a metal cleaning brush used during the cleaning process of the oven tray (pizza pan), which is a production tool used in manufacturing, and got mixed into the product. The recall targets products labeled with a consumption expiration date of October 3, 2024, which are currently being sold at around 6,000 KRW each on some online shopping malls.
The Ministry stated, "Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi Province has been instructed to promptly carry out the recall," and added, "Consumers who purchased the product are advised to stop consumption and return it to the place of purchase."
