Geumcheon-gu Designates All Gas Stations as No-Smoking Zones
Designation of All Gas Stations in Geumcheon-gu as No-Smoking Zones; 100,000 KRW Fine Imposed for Violations Starting February 2024 After Guidance Period
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it has designated all 11 gas stations in the area as non-smoking zones.
This designation of non-smoking zones is based on the Geumcheon-gu Ordinance on Creating a Smoke-Free Environment and Preventing Secondhand Smoke Damage, aiming to protect the health of residents from the harms of secondhand smoke and to prevent safety accidents such as fires and explosions that may occur from smoking at gas stations.
The scope of the non-smoking zone covers the entire premises of the gas stations. If there are electric vehicle charging stations within the gas stations, they are also designated as non-smoking zones.
The non-smoking zone designation takes effect on November 1, and after a three-month guidance period, a fine of 100,000 KRW will be imposed for violations starting from February 1, 2024.
