‘The Hometown of Seonbi’ Sancheong-gun Holds Seonbi University Graduation Ceremony
Learning the Wisdom and Scholarship of Master Nammyung Jo Sik
Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 10th that it held the Sancheong Seonbi University graduation ceremony at the Nammyung Memorial Hall in Sicheon-myeon.
Now in its 18th year, Seonbi University is operated to enhance the prestige of Sancheong-gun, known as the "Home of Seonbi," by learning the wisdom and scholarly virtues of Nammyung Jo Sik, a master of practical Confucianism during the Joseon Dynasty.
The Nammyung Studies Institute affiliated with Gyeongsang National University is entrusted with the operation and produces about 50 graduates annually.
This year, education was conducted every Wednesday for 30 weeks, starting with the entrance ceremony on March 8 and concluding with the graduation ceremony on the 8th of this month.
In particular, professors from the Nammyung Studies Institute and distinguished external figures gave lectures, teaching classical Chinese texts and the basic qualities that Seonbi should possess, thereby imparting the spirit and scholarship of the old Seonbi.
