Hojuh Elementary School in Wonju-si, Gangwon-do, is a small elementary school with fewer than 45 students and is located in an area vulnerable to heavy snowfall and cold waves. As another cold wave is expected this year due to abnormal weather patterns, Lotte Mart delivered gift boxes containing practical items to help students stay warm during winter, such as padded jackets, moisturizing cream, and snacks.
Representatives from Lotte Mart’s ESG team, Wonju City Social Welfare Council, Wonju City Hall, and Wonju City Office of Education attended the delivery ceremony. The attendees also discussed ways to promote win-win cooperation between Lotte Mart and rural areas and to reduce educational disparities between urban and rural regions.
After the delivery ceremony, an upcycling class called ‘Plastic Treasure Hunt Expedition’ was held for all students, providing them with a unique eco-friendly educational experience.
Meanwhile, Lotte Mart operates the ‘Charlotte Volunteer Group,’ which is active monthly with seasonal themes such as ‘Eating Nutritious Food for Summer’ and ‘Delivering Chuseok Gift Sets,’ by partnering with nearby child protection agencies at 111 stores nationwide.
