Dong-Eui University LINC 3.0 Project Group Launches Industry-Academia-Research 'Convergence Brand'
"Building a Collaborative Ecosystem, Advancing Brand Sophistication"
"Now, universities are advancing projects to enhance industry-academia-research cooperation brands."
Dong-Eui University (President Han Suhwan) was selected in April last year for the third phase of the Leading University for Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation Project, 'LINC 3.0,' organized by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea. The project aims to advance workforce development that meets the demands of industry and future society and to revitalize corporate support. The university will receive a total of approximately 24 billion KRW over six years starting from 2022.
As a regional private university leading industry-academia-research cooperation projects, Dong-Eui University is currently focusing on advancing its cooperation brand to lead the new industrial innovation ecosystem. The university explained that this project is linked to the core strategic task of its self-established Dong-Eui Vision 2025, "Building an Evolutionary Industry-Academia Cooperation Ecosystem."
Lee Imgeon, head of Dong-Eui University's LINC 3.0 project team, emphasized, "Dong-Eui University regards industry-academia cooperation as a key strategic task, and the LINC 3.0 project team is concentrating its driving force and capabilities on the industry-academia-research cooperation platform."
The 'RECS' team from the Department of Robotics and Automation Engineering at Dong-Eui University received the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award, the grand prize, at the '2023 Display Challenge Contest Awards Ceremony' held last September.

Currently, Dong-Eui University has organized 11 WGs, with participation from 35 departments across engineering and business disciplines. The 11 WGs operate under themes such as △ Materials △ Smart Manufacturing Technology △ Artificial Intelligence & Big Data △ Bio-Biomedical △ IoT Application Systems △ Smart Converged Services △ Digital Content & Cinema △ Design Engineering △ Construction Value Convergence △ Chemistry, Environment & Applications △ Smart Hospitality Management.
The project team’s achievements in operating joint industry-academia technology development tasks are also remarkable. The 'RECS' team, composed of third-year students Lee Dongsup, Park Sangmin, Shin Daehee, and Lee Junghwan from the Department of Robotics and Automation Engineering at Dong-Eui University, won the grand prize at the '2023 Display Challenge Contest,' receiving the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award and a prize of 5 million KRW. The event was held on September 21 at Lotte Hotel World in Seoul, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Display Industry Association and the Korean Society for Information Display.
Students Lee Dongsup and Park Sangmin said, "Through Dong-Eui University's LINC 3.0 project, we participated in a joint industry-academia technology development task related to smart glass development. The experience of working on projects linked to actual industrial sites greatly helped us develop diverse ideas and led to good results."
In February this year, Dong-Eui University held the '2022 Dong-Eui University Industry-Academia Cooperation Festival' at the Crystal Ballroom of Busan Lotte Hotel and plans to hold the event again next year. The festival is an event to share Dong-Eui University's excellent industry-academia cooperation achievements with local companies and others through the Ministry of Education’s LINC 3.0 project and to explore the vision of an innovative industry-academia-research cooperation ecosystem.
The festival presents and exhibits outstanding achievements such as joint industry-academia technology development tasks, technical support projects for difficulties, capstone design competition award-winning works, and startup club activities. It also facilitates technology matching with companies and networking exchanges with technology holding subsidiaries.
President Han Suhwan of Dong-Eui University stated, "The role of universities in responding to future society is expanding beyond knowledge creation to becoming innovation hubs and regional exchange platforms."
